LA FLÈCHE
The Métis people helped shape the Canada of today, mainly in terms of the expansion of the west. They served as intermediaries between the European allies and the First Nation people, with their wives assisting in translating languages and resolving cultural differences. Métis artist David Albert created an Arrow (flèche) to honour the trading relationship between the Métis and the First Nation. They were the pioneers of their time and could be considered the "entrepreneurs" of their people. The flower symbolizes the Métis, who were known as the "flower people," while the Arrow represents the First Nation people and their connection.
